CHRIST

From the beginning of time, God promised a savior, whose destiny is to free us from the fall of Adam and Eve (cf. Genesis 3:15). But, to the surprise of all humanity, it is God Himself who becomes man to save us, and He does so in an equally unexpected way. He is incarnated in a Virgin by the work of the Holy Spirit; in such a way that this man is, at the same time, God. He is Jesus Christ, a God made man who saves and divinizes man, leads him to his category, elevates him to his dignity and, most significantly, makes him free to overcome the attacks of the devil. This God-man dies for us, thus achieving our salvation; moreover, He makes us children of God.

With His Incarnation, eternity enters into time; the infinite becomes ephemeral; the intangible can be touched; the ineffable has a name, surname, profession, and Mother. The Immutable goes through our human needs: He is cold, hungry, cries. The Omnipresent lives in Nazareth; the Almighty shares our nature and becomes vulnerable as a child.

In His public life, He did nothing but good, loving without measure, helping those who needed it (cf. Acts 10:38). He taught us to love and to give our lives, just as He did. He told us that no one has greater love than he who lays down his life for his friends. He constantly spoke to us of a Kingdom of truth and justice, of life and freedom. He promises us eternal life; the only thing He asks in return is to love the truth, to love Him, and to love as He loved us.

With His Passion, He showed us His commitment to that saving work: He suffered to the point of shedding His blood, and thus fully embraces all human suffering. So much so that there is no human reality that He has not touched and redeemed; there is no corner in the human heart that He has not accompanied; there is no human precariousness that He has not suffered. With His death, He gives us eternal life and, with His Resurrection, He reopens the doors of heaven to us.

Only in Him do we have our salvation; only by following Him can we be happy. He is the incarnate Truth; He has been, is, and will be our only refuge. He is the man who gave us the universal criteria for life. He is Christ.
